We had the pleasure of visiting here, and our information is based on our personal experiences  

13th century gatehouse remains of original structure, augmented by 17th and 19th century additions and remodelling. Dunster Castle holds a prominent hilltop position overlooking Exmoor and the Bristol Channel. Terraced gardens.

 Lytes Cary Manor
  

The oldest part of Lytes Cary is the chapel, which dates to the 14th century. The 15th century saw the construction of the Great Hall, and major additions were made in the 16th. Fallen derelict in the 20th century, the house was restored by Sir Walter Jenner.

 Montacute House
  

E-shaped Elizabethan mansion built of warm Ham Hill stone. Sparse furnishings, but the long gallery (172 feet) houses over 100 portraits from the National Portrait Gallery. Marvellous Tudor exterior, including the west front, which was imported whole from another Tudor house in the 18th century.
