Photos of Lake District

A photo tour of the beautiful English Lake District, with images of historic sights and scenery. This collection of images is organized in rough alphabetical order by location. If your favourite location is not included, its only because there so many fantastic places to explore in the Lake District, and I haven't got to them all yet!

Aira Force waterfall, Ullswater, Lake District
The most popular and most highly visited of the many spectacular waterfalls in the Lake District is Aira Force, on the northern shore of Ullswater between Watermillock and Glenridding.
Angletarn Beck, Hartsop, Lake District
A short walk above Hartsop, at the southern end of Ullswater, brings you to the small waterfall of Angletarn Beck.
Angletarn Beck Footbridge, Hartsop, Lake District
Just below the waterfall on Angletarn Beck the path crosses a small footbridge before it drops down to the valley floor once more. Its a lovely walk, and one that doesn't get many visitors, so you may have the view to yourself!
Stone walls and fields, Birker Fell, Lake District
The evening sun lights stone walls and farmer's fields on the north western slopes of Birker Fell.
Birker Fell and Scafell, western Lake District
The minor road across the top of Birker Fell offers wonderful views to the peaks of Scafell.
Scafell Pike from Birker Fell, Lake District
There are so many wonderful views in the Lake District - this is one of my favourites; Scafell at dusk, from the road across Birker Fell
Scafell Pike from Birker Fell
Birker Fell offers superb views to the high peaks of Scafell. Late summer evening offers superb light, and unforgettable scenery.
Yarrow blossom, Birker Fell
A nice rustic note - yarrow blooms along the roadside on Birker Fell
Farm building, Birker Fell
Stone wall and farm building on Birker Fell - a typical Lakeland scene
Humpback bridge, Birker Fell, Lake District
There are several humpback bridges in the Duddon, Eskdale area; this is one of the most scenic, on the top of Birker Fell above Ulpha.
Summer trees, Eskdale, Lake District
Early summer sun lights the trees on the cliff edge high above Eskdale.
Eskdale, Lake District
Looking down into Eskdale from the slopes of Birker Fell. This is one of the most lovely spots in the whole of the Lake District, and one of the least frequented.
