Park at the signposted parking area just north of Hartsop. From the parking lot an information panel marks the start of a waymarked trail around the lake. |
Trails through woodland make a stroll along the western shore of Brothers Water a real treat on a sunny day. |
After passing through woodlands, the path from Hartsop reaches an open, grassy area at the southern end of Brothers Water. This is an excellent picnicking area, as the grassed lawn leads right to the water's edge. |
The path leaves the lake at the southern tip and loops around past an old medieval farmhouse at Hartsop Hall. |
Small clusters of trees along the southern end of the lake |
Morning mist on Brothers Water. Kirkstone Pass lies beyond. |
Dusk falls over Brothers Water. This view is back north towards Hartsop and Ullswater beyond. |
Brothers Water, looking beyond to Kirkstone Pass. Near the southern edge of the lake a small parking pullover leads to a tiny beach. The water is so shallow that lily pads grow in abundance. A footpath leads north along the lake to the northern tiip, then loops up to Hartsop and the parking area beyond. |
The northern end of Brothers Water is ringed with these lovely trees. The views are superb (of course, that goes without saying in this area!) |
Morning light on the trees that mark the northernmost edge of Brothers Water. |
Blue sky and clouds reflect in the still waters of Brothers Water. It is a shame this lake is not more visited - hmmm, I take that back, maybe I'll keep it all to myself just how pretty this area is. |
