There's an entrance hall with a handy place to hang coats and deposit boots and umbrellas. The sitting room chairs and sofas are extra comfortable with soft duvet covers. You can sit here and soak in the view over the hills, watch tv, or read one of the many books provided. In good weather there are two flower-filled patios with lawn furniture where you can indulge in afternoon coffee/tea or enjoy your evening meal out of doors. The kitchen/dining room is fully equipped with everything you need from a coffee maker and toaster to a microwave, fridge and stove. There's even a washer for doing the laundry. Pots, pans, dishes, silverware, linens--all are in plentiful supply. The charming cottage décor makes it a pleasure to cook a meal here, even if it's just a jacket potato. The bedroom on the ground floor has a four poster with sumptuous linens, pillows and covers. Its ensuite shower room is large and completely equipped with stacks of towels and toiletries. Up the stairs is another gorgeous bedroom with its own tv and an extra daybed. This room has a big bathtub in a very large bathroom, again with stacks of towels and toiletries. Heating is excellent. Plenty of parking. Non-smoking. Everything is included in your rental. Peter and Dorothy are lovely hosts, warm and helpful. Dorothy is a 'little gem' just like her cottage. She provides a welcoming basket of food goodies for you. I stayed here for a week curled up on the sofa watching Wimbledon and reading the new Harry Potter. Paradise! Why
Not: The location is out of the way on a narrow country road, so you
will need a car; it's a three-mile drive to a shop. The tile floors are cold.
The mattresses need more padding. Carmarthenshire 2000 review: This country home, set in 5 acres that were originally the site of a woolen mill, is nestled alongside the Cloidach Brook in the beautiful Towy Valley. Riverside walks on the property. Two double bedrooms (one ensuite, one private) and one twin bedroom ensuite. Central heating, tea and coffee, visitor's TV lounge, breakfast in the conservatory overlooking the lovely grounds. Non-smoking. Off road parking. The rooms are spotlessly clean and attractively decorated. The owners are friendly and accommodating in all respects. This is a quiet and peaceful spot. Be sure to get directions from the web site as there are no signs off the main road. Recommended by Barbara Ballard Ceredigion 2000
review: This place is just off a busy highway but far enough off that
there is no noise. Bow Street is the name of the settlement on the highway, and
the guesthouse is down a nearby country lane. Four miles from Aberystwyth. It's
a new purpose built small "hotel" with all the friendliness of a B&B and none
of the problems of most small British hotels (think Fawlty Towers). The ten rooms
(ask for non-smoking) are fully equipped with TV, phone, tea and coffee, and the
beds have excellent mattresses. One room is purpose built for the physically handicapped.
The bathrooms are modern and have great towels. Private parking. Spotlessly clean.
There's a licensed bar and a new restaurant with a great view over a sheep farm.
Examples of the dinner menu include: starter selections of homemade soup, spinach
and ricotta parcels; fish dishes that encompass trout fresh grilled with lime
sauce or fresh salmon steak with a prawn and white wine sauce, main course selections
of various types of steak and chicken as well as Welsh lamb cutlets in redcurrant
jelly and rosemary sauce. There are fresh vegetables served with the main courses,
and vegetarian main selections are available. There's a good wine list. This is
the first establishment of this size in Britain that I have stayed in that I can
recommend unreservedly. Recommended by Barbara
Ballard Dyfed 2000 review: Ivy Bank is a lovely Victorian Guest House in the centre of the historic town of Tenby. The rooms are all beautifully decorated with en-suite bathrooms and all the comforts of home. The hosts are extremely freindly and make you feel very welcome. The food is of a very high standard with generous portions. I would recommend it to anyone, either as a family holiday or as a couple. Really great. Recommended by : name witheld by request Glamorgan 2000 review: This guesthouse is situated on a very heavy traffic road overlooking the seafront between Swansea and the Victorian area of Mumbles with its village. You can decide whether you want the beautiful views from the window and put up with the traffic noise or choose a quiet room at the back overlooking the small but lovely garden. (I personally preferred the seaview). Rooms are spotlessly clean and all are ensuite with small shower rooms. The décor is light and airy with wicker furniture and soft colours. Colour TV, tea and coffee and private parking are provided. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly as are other staff. Non-smoking except for the lounge. A bus stop ˝ block away takes you to Swansea or, in the other direction, to the Mumbles seafront attractions. There is a seafront walk/cycle path going in both directions just across the road. Stay Here: Set in 23 acres in a quiet and peaceful location, the stone
and brick farmhouse is totally modernized, making for a very comfortable stay.
Parking is plentiful There are views of the Snowdonia mountains from the patio,
and the ocean is just a few minutes away, as is Caernarfon and its castle. Everything
is spotlessly clean. The bedrooms are roomy and beautifully decorated. TV, dvd,
and video tape players are provided as well as a tea tray, and comfortable chairs
for lounging. The bathrooms have excellent showers and are some of the best equipped
with towels and toiletries I have ever stayed in. The hosts are friendly and helpful.
Mari is an excellent cook and prepares dinner using fresh ingredients. A guest
sitting room is also available. I booked in here for a week and was glad I did.
I recommend it wholeheartedly. Pembrokeshire 2000 review: Located in a tiny village in the Pembrokeshire National Park in the Gwaun Valley on the banks of the river Gwaun. This guesthouse has its own private grounds and lake. It is just 2 miles (3km) from Fishguard, so is a handy place to stay the night before catching a ferry to Ireland and upon returning. All rooms are ensuite with tea and coffee and colour TV. The bathrooms are good sized and have luxury towels. Rooms are spotlessly clean, and beds are comfortable. Laundry facilities and private parking. The dining room where breakfast is served overlooks the lake. The owners are lovely people, very friendly and helpful. Non-smoking.
