Wilton House   Four new gardens were added to Wilton by the late 17th Earl: the North Forecourt, Old English Rose, Water and Cloister gardens. However, gardening has a long history at Wilton; starting in 1632 Isaac De Caus set out on an ambitious plan for extensive water gardens, taking advantage of the estate's location on the River Nadder.
