Britain at War

Winston Churchill's Britain at War Experience (to give this evocative attraction its full and proper name) recreates the world of the Blitz in England during the darkest days of World War II. Much more than just static exhibits behind glass cases, the Britain at War museum tries to recreate every aspect of life at the height of the London Blitz from the sights and sounds of an air raid to the minutiae of daily life

Visitors can see what it was like in a London Underground ar raid shelter, read newspapers of the day or see newsreel footage. Visit an authentic radio studio and listen to BBC wartime radio broadcasts and messages from world leaders like Churchill, Chamberlain, Roosevelt, Hitler and Lord Haw Haw.

Visitors can enter a Drury Lane dressing room, peek into a GI club, see real bombs (even hear a bomb ticking), and learn about the important role played by women in the war effort. See recreated shop windows, real ration books, and all the other memorabilia that make those darkest of times come alive again.

School parties can experience dressing up in authentic WWII gas masks and uniforms.

Admission
Fee charged. Open 7 days per week. Check the official Britain at War website (below) to verify current opening times.

Accessibility
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilet facilities.
